Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson recently opened up about why she no longer has a relationship with her biological mother. In her new book, titled “I Am Not Yvonne Nelson,” she revealed that she is uncertain about her biological father’s identity as her mother has kept it a secret.
Yvonne, who is 37 years old and a mother herself, claimed that her alleged father, Mr. Oko Nelson, is not her biological father, meaning she has been carrying the wrong last name.
According to a Twitter user named Sel The Bomb, who read Yvonne’s book, the most shocking revelation was not about her relationship with the rapper Sarkodie but rather the truth about her supposed father. It turns out that Mr. Oko Nelson, who has since passed away, was not her real dad. Yvonne’s mother had misled her, causing her to mistakenly portray Mr. Nelson as an irresponsible father in her comments and interviews. Yvonne discovered the truth only when her mother finally confessed, but by then, it was too late as Mr. Nelson had already passed away in 2017 without ever discussing Yvonne publicly.
In her book, Yvonne Nelson apologized to the memory of Mr. Nelson for the humiliation he endured, as she had unknowingly perpetuated a false image of him. She also revealed that she still doesn’t know the identity of her biological father, which means that the Nelson surname she carries is not her true name. This unexpected twist forms a central theme in her book, “I Am Not Yvonne Nelson.”
Currently, Yvonne and her mother are not on good terms, and they last met approximately a year ago. It is a significant change in their relationship since Yvonne used to praise her mother as her hero, but now sees her as the antagonist. Yvonne’s mother continues to withhold information about her real father’s identity.
