The Delta State House of Assembly has said that it is not against local government autonomy.
While saying that it was a constitutional matter, he said for the past one year the House has passed 18 bills.
Out of these, nine had been signed into law by the state governor.
Dennis Guwor, the speaker of the State House of Assembly, gave this breakdown today in Asaba while rendering his stewardship as the 8th Assembly marked its first anniversary.
He also said that out of the bills, 15 are executive bills while three are private members' bills.
Some of the signed bills include Appropriation Bill 2024, Delta State Merit Award Bill 2023, Delta State Persons with Disability Bill, 2023 and Delta State Social lnvestment Programme Bill 2023.
He paid tribute to House members for their unity of purpose which has earned the House the most vibrant House of Assembly in the country.
The speaker disclosed that in the House of 29 members, APC has seven members and work together as one family.
On the suspension of Matthew Omonade of Ughelli North I constituency, he said a committee was looking into that.
He, however, said the issue of plagiarism of bill could not be proved as laws are universal, as no one person can claim authorship of it.
He pledged the support of the House to the executive arm of government.
“We trust that the MORE agenda of His Excellency, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori our dear governor, will deliver dividends of democracy to our people,” he said.
