A Nigerian lady shares her thoughts on Igbo family dynamics, highlighting Igbo mothers kind gesture towards their daughters-in-law.
The lady identified as Ijeoma Chinonyerem, on Facebook, stated that in Igbo culture, kindness shown to daughters-in-law is a subtle hint to take on more responsibilities.
She noted that the Igbo tribe frequently calls and warmly accepts their daughters-in-law to avoid resentment.
Additionally, Ijeoma Chinonyerem acknowledged that her views on Igbo culture might spark skepticism, stating it’s an honest observation.
Her post reads,“If you’re dating an Igbo man and his family ESPECIALLY his mother is *extremely* nice, just know you’re marrying the family efulefu and they want you to do and carry the burden. You are their ovu ngwongwo”.
“That extreme niceness and 24 hour calls from all their family members and calling you my love and blablabla is so you won’t change your mind”.
“They know you’re the price. Dem don taya for their efulefu son and want him to be someone else’s headache. So they go dey pamper you make you no change your mind.You will argue and twist this post, sha. But it is what it is♀️”.
