Manchester City cruised to a 3-0 victory over Burnley in the Premier League season opener on Saturday, with Erling Haaland scoring twice.
Haaland opened the scoring in the fourth minute with his first touch of the new season, and he doubled City’s lead in the 36th minute. Rodri added a third for the visitors in the 75th minute to seal the victory.
The win was a perfect start to the season for City, who are looking to defend their Premier League title. Haaland, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, made a dream start to his career at the club, scoring twice in his first game.
Burnley, meanwhile, were left to rue a missed opportunity to take points off the defending champions. The Clarets created a few chances, but they were unable to find the back of the net against a well-organized City defense.
