Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has issued a strong warning to the United States and Israel, accusing both nations of crossing a ‘very big red line’ by launching coordinated strikes on their nuclear facilities.
Speaking on Sunday at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Istanbul, Araghchi condemned the recent attacks and announced he would be traveling to Moscow for urgent talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“They crossed a very big red line by attacking our nuclear facilities,” Araghchi said, calling the latest U.S. airstrike “the most dangerous one yet.”
The comments come just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that American warplanes carried out a targeted assault on three key Iranian nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
Araghchi warned that Iran would respond “by all means necessary,” not only to what he called U.S. military aggression, but also to what he labeled the “reckless and unlawful actions” of Israel.
He dismissed renewed Western calls for negotiation, saying peace talks had become “irrelevant” in light of what he described as a betrayal of diplomacy.
“The world must not forget that it was the United States which — in the midst of a process to forge a diplomatic outcome — betrayed diplomacy by supporting the genocidal Israeli regime’s launch of an illegal war of aggression on the Iranian nation,” Araghchi said.
“We were engaged in diplomatic efforts, but we were attacked, he added.
The minister also accused Washington of giving a “green light” to Israel or even directly ordering the strikes and declared that Iran no longer sees the U.S. as a genuine diplomatic partner.
“They gave a green light to the Israelis—if not directly instructed them—to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities. They have proven that they are not men of diplomacy; they only understand the language of threats and force,” he stated.
As of Sunday afternoon, Araghchi said he was en route to Russia, where he is expected to meet with Putin on Monday morning to discuss a coordinated response and regional security.
“I’m going to Moscow this afternoon to ‘hold serious consultations’ with the Russian president tomorrow,” he said.
Meanwhile, President Trump has insisted that Iran must now “agree to end this war” and reiterated that Iran would not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons under any circumstances.
The airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites which included Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan have sparked global concern and drawn calls for restraint from world powers, including the European Union.
