The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed absentees ahead of their highly anticipated Unity Cup clash against Nigeria’s Super Eagles, with key players including Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus and Antoine Semenyo all ruled out.
In an official statement, the GFA cited minor injuries as the reason for the absence of Kudus, Sulemana, Semenyo, Ernest Nuamah, and Elisha Owusu.
The injury list extends further to include Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, Abdul Mumin, Tariq Lamptey, Alidu Seidu, Daniel Kofi Kyereh, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and Iñaki Williams.
Head coach Otto Addo has also opted to rest Thomas Partey and Michael Baidoo, as part of what appears to be a broader squad management strategy.
Further weakening the squad, Turkish-based players Jerome Opoku, Kingsley Schindler and Alexander Djiku were not released by their clubs due to the ongoing Turkish Super Lig season.
Meanwhile, Joseph Paintsil and Osman Bukari are unavailable due to club commitments in Major League Soccer (MLS).
The Black Stars will battle Nigeria on Wednesday, May 28 at the Gtech Community Stadium in London.
The Unity Cup officially kicks off today, Tuesday, with Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago set to open proceedings.
With a depleted Ghanaian side set to face a Super Eagles squad featuring several NPFL stars and veterans, including Ahmed Musa.
