The United Arab Emirates has introduced stricter visa rules for Nigerian travelers, effective July 8, 2025.
UAE suspended the issuance of transit visas to Nigerians, meaning they can no longer use Dubai as a stopover destination.
Under the new policy, Nigerians aged 18-45 traveling alone are no longer eligible for tourist visas.
Only individuals above 45 years applying for a tourist visa must present a personal bank statement for the past six months, showing a minimum monthly balance of $10,000 or its naira equivalent.
Travelers to the UAE are required to show proof of hotel reservations and sufficient funds (5,000 dirhams) to cover their stay.
These changes are expected to reduce Nigerian traffic to Dubai, a popular destination for business and tourism.
Meanwhile, the move comes barely a year after the UAE lifted a two-year visa ban on Nigerian citizens.
