University of Jos, Plateau State, has announced its readiness to host this year’s Nigerian University Games Association, NUGA.
The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, disclosed this during a recent courtesy visit by the official consultant to the 2025 NUGA, the Director General, Hon. Shehu Ataboh, and his team, accompanied by Mr Chuwang Pwajok, General Manager of the Plateau State Tourism Corporation.
Prof. Ishaya assured that the university would put in place all necessary measures to ensure the success of this year’s NUGA.
He noted that the management of the university, regarded as one of the best in West Africa, is prepared to welcome participants from across Nigeria for the games.
He added that the institution is creating the first-of-its-kind sports village in Nigeria.
According to him, “we are redefining the game and creating the first of its kind sports village that would metamorphose into a sports institute. We want to take sport to the next level.”
He appreciated the state government and the consultant for their involvement in sports development.
“The goal of the institution in West Africa is why they are ready to host this year’s NUGA game,” he stated.
On his part, Hon. Ataboh lauded the university for the preparations already in place for the successful hosting of this year’s NUGA, scheduled for November.
