The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has issued a strong warning to critics of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, urging them not to underestimate the President’s leadership capacity or his commitment to national transformation.
Speaking amid growing political tension and a surge in opposition activity, Ribadu said critics of the current government represent a failed political past clinging to outdated ideas.
“We have quality leadership today in our country. Mr. President is a digital President. People who underestimate him are doing so at their own peril,” Ribadu stated.
His comments come as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) accused the Tinubu-led Presidency of fabricating allegations of a planned coup to justify what it called the crackdown on opposition leaders. The party described the claim as a desperate attempt to suppress dissent ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a related development, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, revealed that several governors and senior All Progressives Congress (APC) figures are allegedly working behind the scenes to support the growing opposition movement.
Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), also made headlines by confirming her alignment with the ADC-led opposition coalition, although she remains officially a member of the Labour Party.
However, not all opposition voices are on the same page. Senator Abba Moro, who represents Benue South, distanced himself from the new political alignment, reaffirming his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Meanwhile, in Ondo State, PDP leaders disowned a group of former governorship aspirants and members who recently defected to the ADC, dismissing them as political opportunists.
