Nigerian music executive Ubi Franklin has shared the behind-the-scenes story of how Afrobeats star Davido planned an unforgettable birthday celebration for his wife, Chioma Rowland, as she turned 30.
Taking to Instagram, Ubi revealed that the planning began three weeks before the big day when Davido messaged him to kickstart the surprise.
“About 3 weeks ago David sent a message saying ‘omo open group make we plan Chioma’s 30th birthday.’ I said let’s go.” Ubi wrote.
Initially, Ubi assumed it would be a low-key affair due to Davido’s hectic schedule with his album release. However, the music star had much grander plans in mind. Davido insisted on something truly memorable and teamed up with Chioma’s sister, Jennifer Rowland, to begin scouting for a top-tier event planner in Atlanta.
They eventually found @ellybevents, whom Ubi described as a “magician” for her dedication and flawless execution. One of the first big surprises shared in their group chat was an image of the luxurious Black G-Wagon Davido had purchased as a gift for Chioma — a clue that the celebration would be nothing short of spectacular.
To complete the vision, Davido opted for an elegant black-tie event. He worked with celebrity designer Taryor Gabriels to create a stunning look for the night, enhancing the glamour of the occasion.
Ubi praised Davido, calling him “the husband with the best gifts,” and expressed gratitude to all who helped make the night special for Chioma.
“Sometimes you just want to do life with people who don’t just care about social media, but truly care about you,” he concluded.
