Wilfred Ndidi is expected to be on the move this summer after Leicester City’s relegation triggered a £9 million (approximately N19 billion) release clause in his contract.
The Nigerian midfielder, who signed a new deal last summer keeping him at the club until 2027, now finds himself at the centre of renewed transfer interest.
Leicester’s drop back to the Championship activated the clause nine days ago, according to BBC Sport’s Nizaar Kinsella.
Despite links to Everton last season, Ndidi opted to stay loyal to the Foxes.
However, with the club mathematically condemned to the second tier, his exit appears imminent.
Since joining from Genk in January 2017, the 28-year-old has become one of the club’s most consistent performers, reaching 300 appearances.
Over the last two campaigns, he has registered 7 goals and 10 assists in 63 matches across all competitions.
Ndidi’s availability is expected to attract interest from several top-flight clubs looking to bolster their midfield with a proven Premier League performer.
