Osun State University Student and Boyfriend Paraded for Allegedly Robbing Man of N1.5 Million
Victory Ehiremen, a 17-year-old female student at Osun State University, and her boyfriend, Ayobami Ariyo, faced public scrutiny after being paraded for their alleged involvement in luring a man from Lagos to Osun through social media and robbing him of N1.5 million.
According to Commissioner of Police Kehinde Longe, the incident unfolded when Victory initiated contact with the complainant on a social media platform a few days prior to the robbery. After engaging in conversation, she invited him to her location in Ikire. However, upon his arrival, Victory led the victim to her boyfriend's residence, where he was ambushed by a group of individuals who proceeded to transfer N1.5 million from his bank account.
Prompt police intervention resulted in the arrest of Ayobami Ariyo at his hiding place. Further investigation led to the apprehension of two additional accomplices, while efforts are underway to arrest other individuals involved in the crime.
During questioning by journalists, Victory maintained that she was unaware of her boyfriend's intention to forcibly obtain money from the victim. She expressed distress when Ayobami and his friend began assaulting the complainant after barging into the room where she was present.
Additionally, she disclosed that her boyfriend, whom she accused of involvement in internet fraud, gifted her N40,000 just two days after the incident.
