A petroleum tanker carrying 60,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as petrol, lost control and somersaulted in Oyo State.
DAILY POST gathered that the incident occurred at Irepo Junction along the Oyo-Ogbomoso Expressway in Oyo.
According to sources, the incident took place on Wednesday.
The tanker, with registration number KMC65ZC (Kano), loaded with PMS, lost control whilst in motion and somersaulted.
It was further gathered that no casualty was recorded in the incident.
The chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the development.
According to him, the incident was reported at exactly 3:51 pm on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, and the agency’s personnel swiftly responded to the emergency call.
“On arrival, we met a falling HOWO trailer tanker with registration number KMC65ZC (Kano) of 60,000 litres capacity loaded with Premium Motor Spirit. It lost control whilst on motion and somersaulted to the roadside with its content gushing out.
“We quickly covered the spillage with chemical foam compound to neutralise the flame of the liquid which can trigger naked fire from close or far place.
“The accident was due to lack of absolute concentration whilst driving by the truck driver. The Federal Fire Service also was in attendance during the operation. The Nigerian Police from Ojongbodu Division, Oyo, was at the scene of accident for security cover,” he stated.
