She belongs to the Idoma tribe and is a true cultural woman from Nigeria’s Middle Belt region. Sharon Ooja was born in Kaduna state and spent her early years there before relocating to Jos for basic school. She attended Kings and Queens School in Jos, where she finished her elementary school and earned her FSLC.

After completing her First School Leaving Certificate, she attended two all-girls boarding schools: St. Louis Girls’ College in Jos and Regina Pacis Secondary School in Garki II, Abuja. There, she received her Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and finished her basic education.

She then moved on to Houdegbe North American University in Cotonou, Benin Republic. Houdegbe North American University is a private university in Cotonou that was formed to provide superior education through a bilingual curriculum that includes both English and French language courses.

She graduated from the institution with a degree in Mass Communication, right about the time her acting career took off. Unlike most Nollywood actors and actresses who juggled acting and academics, Sharon Ooja completed one before beginning another.

Sharon Ooja husband is Ugo Nwoke. Ooja and Ugo Nwoke dated for two and a half months before getting married. In March 2024, the actress announced that she had a private civil wedding ceremony with her husband, whom she refers to as “Odogwu silencer”. In June 2024, Ooja married Ugo Nwoke in front of her family, friends, and colleagues.
