Notable Nigerian culinary expert, Chef Dammy, has responded to a report by Guinness World Records regarding her 120-hour cook-a-thon attempt.
Initial reports had circulated suggesting that Chef Dammy did not formally apply to Guinness World Records before undertaking the challenge, surpassing her compatriot Hilda Baci’s cooking record.
In an official statement posted on her Facebook page, the Ekiti Chef clarified that her intention behind the 120-hour cook-a-thon was to test her own capabilities rather than aiming to break any records. She expressed her happiness for persevering and not giving up throughout the grueling challenge.
“I had previously stated that I embarked on this journey to test my capabilities, not for any Guinness World Record. I am happy that I cooked for 120 hours, and I am proud that I never gave up,” she stated.
It is important to note that Chef Dammy successfully surpassed Hilda Baci’s previous record of 93 hours for the longest cooking time. As a result, she has received numerous gifts and financial support from Nigerians who applaud her remarkable effort.
