Serie A is facing further fixture reshuffling as preparations intensify for Pope Francis’ funeral, which is expected to take place in Rome on Saturday.
According to multiple Italian outlets, three Matchday 34 fixtures; Como vs Genoa, Inter vs Roma and Lazio vs Parma, are now under review for potential postponement.
The Lazio vs Parma match in the Italian capital, is especially under scrutiny due to its proximity in time and location to the Vatican’s proceedings.
Reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport and others suggest that Lega Serie A will likely move the Lazio fixture to Monday, April 28.
This comes on the heels of a wider schedule disruption earlier in the week following the Pope’s death.
Four matches originally slated for Easter Monday, Parma vs Juventus, Lazio vs Genoa, Cagliari vs Fiorentina, and Torino vs Udinese, were pushed to Wednesday, April 23 as part of a league-wide mourning period.
