Nwoko came up with a proposal in June 2024, expressing his readiness to sponsor a constitutional bill to create a new state in the Southeast known as “Anioma”.

In his argument, Nwoko said that the Southeast geopolitical zone of the country currently has five states and the creation of a new one would go a long way in addressing the “longstanding imbalance in the geopolitical distribution of states in Nigeria”.

“The South East geopolitical zone currently has five states, unlike its counterparts, except for the North West, which has seven states,” Nwoko said in a post on his X handle last month.

“This disparity results in an imbalance of representation and resources, with the South East having only 15 lawmakers compared to the 18 lawmakers of other zones in the senate.”

Meanwhile, the Kano Government in an unequivocal proclamation on Wednesday reaffirmed its commitment to revolutionise the educational landscape towards a more unified, inclusive, and responsive framework within the state.

This was contained in a statement issued by Governor Abba Yusuf's spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa.

The governor reaffirmed the commitment at the inauguration of a two-day Kano State Education Recovery Conference held at the Convocation Arena, University, Kano.
