Russia is set to unveil AI Personalize Vaccine to treat all types of cancer.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that scientists have created a universal mRNA-based cancer vaccine, a major breakthrough in cancer treatment. The vaccine sends a special mRNA sequence into the body, causing cells to make proteins that trigger the immune system to fight cancer cells.
AI is used to personalize the vaccine for each patient’s tumours, allowing it to be made in just a week. Preclinical trials finished in September showed an 80% reduction in tumour size in animal tests. President Putin called it a “breakthrough.”
The vaccine, set to be released in early 2025, will be free for eligible patients in Russia’s healthcare system. Its production cost is about 300,000 rubles (around $3,095 USD).
Developed by the Gamaleya Research Center, Hertsen Oncology Institute, and Blokhin Cancer Center, it’s expected to treat all types of cancer.
