Russia has expressed firm support for Iran’s right to defend itself in the wake of U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, describing its strategic partnership with Tehran as “unbreakable.”
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said, “Iran has the full right to self-defense,” according to Russian state news agencies.
Ryabkov stated the strength of the alliance between Moscow and Tehran, calling it “unbreakable,” and reiterated that cooperation between the two nations spans multiple sectors, including security.
When asked whether Iran had formally requested military support from Russia in response to the attacks, Ryabkov declined to provide specifics.
“We are working closely with Iran across a range of areas. It would be irresponsible to disclose the details of that cooperation,” he told Interfax.
