A police officer in Anambra has come under fire after allegedly shooting a truck driver’s tyre for refusing to give a bribe.
The incident, which occurred at the Onitsha Head Bridge, was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @ChuksEricE.
According to the post, the confrontation began when a truck driver declined to offer a bribe to the officer.
In retaliation, the officer reportedly shot one of the truck’s tyres.
Outraged by the act, fellow truck drivers halted movement on the busy road, demanding that a new tyre be provided before they would proceed.
The protest led to hours of gridlock, prompting the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the station to step in.
To restore order, the DPO reportedly bought a new tyre for the affected driver.
As the story gained traction online, many Nigerians took to the comment section to express shock and frustration over the incident.
