Israeli police and Shin Bet security agents have arrested three Israeli citizens in two separate espionage cases, accusing them of operating on behalf of Iranian intelligence.

In one case, 33-year-old Mark Morgein, a resident of the Jordan Valley in the West Bank, was taken into custody.

Authorities say Morgein transferred a grenade from one hidden location to another at the direction of his Iranian handler, with whom he maintained contact throughout June.

Police allege he knew the explosive device would be used to harm Israeli citizens. Additionally, Morgein is accused of filming a missile interception during active conflict between Israel and Iran and sending the footage to his handler.

In a separate case, two young men from Tiberias, Yoni Segal, 18, and Nehorai Omri Mizrahi, 20, were also arrested.

Investigators say an Iranian agent attempted to recruit the pair to carry out an assassination of an unnamed Israeli citizen, offering them hundreds of thousands of shekels and plans for overseas training before revealing the target. The plot was ultimately never carried out.

However, the duo allegedly conducted surveillance on multiple public sites, including shopping malls and hospitals.

According to police, they sent detailed reports to their handler on the layouts, security presence, and number of stores at malls in Haifa, Tiberias, and Tel Aviv. They are also suspected of gathering information on Tel Aviv’s Ichilov Hospital.

Lahav 433 police investigators have submitted a prosecutor’s declaration ahead of expected indictments.

The Petah Tikva Magistrate’s Court has extended the remand for all three suspects by four days, until Thursday.
