The Niger State Police Command has arrested Mohammed Abba Yahaya, 26, of Tungan-goro, Minna, over alleged assault on his girlfriend.
He was arrested for beating and injuring his female friend, Hussena Sani.
The command in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, in Minna said, on 30/5/2024 at about 4:30 pm, a case of criminal force and assault causing injury was reported at Chanchaga Division against Mohammed Abba Yahaya.
According to him: “On 29th of May, 2024 at about 2100 hrs he assaulted Hussena Sani, 25, of the same area and inflicted serious injury on her.
“The said suspect was arrested on 1st of July,2024 and he claimed that he saw his female friend Hussena being dropped by a vehicle at Tungan-goro and he enquired from her to know who dropped her, but he didn't get a satisfactory response . Hence, an argument ensued, which led to a fight while he punched her face.”
The police PRO stated that the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment while the suspect has been transferred to the Police headquarters for further investigation and prosecution.
