Fans of Enyimba Football Club of Aba and Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia have commended the teams for their hard-fought victories over Akwa United and Kano Pillars.
While Enyimba defeated Akwa United of Akwa Ibom 3-2 on Sunday at Aba, Abia Warriors FC also got a 1-0 victory over Kano Pillars in Umuahia.
At Aba, Enyimba's goals came in the 13th, 15th and 67th minutes while Akwa United scored just before the half time and in the 64th minute.
But the People's Elephants held on to the one-goal lead to finish the match 3-2.
In Umuahia, Abia Warriors managed to crack the tough defense line of Kano Pillars, with one goal, scored by Sunday Megwo, in the 31st minute of the game.
The match in Umuahia was watched by Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ikechuckwu Emetu; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa; Club Chairman, John Obuh, and a host large supporters.
In his remark after the game, Obuh commended the supporters of the club for cheering his team.
He further commended the Abia Warriors players for securing the three points.
With Sunday evening's result, Abia Warriors are now third on the Nigeria Premier Football League table, with 6 points from 3 games, having lost one game.
The Umuahia-based team sit behind Bendel Insurance and Enugu Rangers, who also have 6 points each, with Insurance playing just two games.
At Aba, the atmosphere was also sweet for Enyimba fans after their team recorded the 3-2 victory over tough opponents Akwa United.
Meanwhile, the new board members of Enyimba, Abia Warriors and Abia Comets, who were appointed by Governor Alex Otti, will be inaugurated in Umuahia at the Ministry of Sports on Tuesday.
