NIN enrolment hits 118.4m as Lagos, Kano lead nationwide registration

The number of Nigerians enrolled for the National Identification Number (NIN) has reached 118.4 million as of March 2025, according to the latest data from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

This marks an increase of approximately one million new registrations from February’s figure of 117.3 million.

The data highlights Lagos State as the front-runner with the highest number of enrolments nationwide, accounting for 12.7 million. Kano State follows with 10.4 million, while Kaduna ranks third with 6.9 million enrolments.

The figures are in line with population trends, as both Lagos and Kano remain Nigeria’s most populous states, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
