The Federal Government has decided to cancel the military parade that was to commemorate the 26th Democracy Day, which is scheduled for Thursday, June 12, 2025.
In a statement released by Abdulhakeem Adeoye on behalf of the committee’s Director, Information & Public Relations, said President Bola Tinubu will address the nation at 7am, on Thursday.
He stated that President Tinubu will participate in a special joint session of the National Assembly at 12 noon.
The joint session is expected to feature discussions on the State of the Nation, reflections on Nigeria’s democratic progress, and renewed calls for national unity and reform.
A public lecture is scheduled to be held later that day at 4 p.m. at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
DAILY POST reports that the event will bring together government officials, political leaders, and civil society stakeholders to review Nigeria’s democratic journey under the theme: “Consolidating on the Gains of Nigeria’s Democracy: Necessity of Enduring Reforms.”
