Popular Nigerian singer Simi is currently under fire on social media after a video of her struggling to answer basic current affairs questions during a trivia session with her husband, Adekunle Gold (AG Baby), went viral.
In the lighthearted game session hosted by AG Baby, Simi and a group of friends and family members took part in a current affairs Q&A. However, what was meant to be fun has since stirred reactions online, especially due to Simi’s incorrect responses.
One of the first questions asked by Adekunle Gold was, “What is the capital of Yobe State?” Simi quickly answered “Adamawa,” which is a completely different state. Others present also gave wrong answers until one woman correctly responded with “Damaturu.”
AG Baby then asked, “What is the capital of Ebonyi State?” Again, most participants missed it, but the same woman gave the right answer: “Abakaliki.”
Another question posed was, “Who is the current governor of Osun State?” Simi answered “Adegboyega,” which was incorrect. No one could give the right answer until Adekunle Gold gave a clue by referring to the governor as the “Dancing Governor.” This prompted the group to chorus “Adeleke,” referring to Governor Ademola Adeleke. However, when asked to state his first name, most of them stumbled again—until a man finally said “Ademola” and won a prize.
The group also failed to answer correctly when asked, “Who is the current Senate President of Nigeria?”

The video has since drawn criticism online, with many netizens expressing disappointment at the singer’s lack of awareness on basic national knowledge. While some saw it as harmless fun, others argued that celebrities should be more informed, especially when in the public eye.
