The Nasarawa State Waste Management and Sanitation Authority (NASWAMSA) has denied abandoning a refuse dump located in the New Nyanya area of Karu local council.
The agency made the clarification while reacting to reports that it had abandoned the New Nyanya dumpsite.
In a statement issued by NASWAMSA and made available to DAILY POST, Comrade Abdulmalik Abubakar, information and public relations officer, said the agency can‘t abandon the dumpsite.
Abubakar said: “Unfortunately, the road leading to the dumpsite which had a lot of potholes was filled up, and evacuation commenced.
“While on the evacuation exercise, the payloader developed a major mechanical fault and had to take time before it was fixed.
“Sequel to the restored order of the payloader, the Agency has continued with the evacuation exercise of all unapproved dumpsites and very soon will get back to the alleged dumpsite.”
