Moon sighted in Saudi Arabia, Eid-el-Adha to hold June 6

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has officially announced the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent moon, marking the beginning of the 12th and final month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

The announcement was made on Tuesday via Haramain, a Saudi-based Islamic news platform, on X (formerly Twitter), confirming that Wednesday, May 28, 2025, will be the first day of Dhul Hijjah.

Dhul Hijjah holds deep religious significance for Muslims worldwide, as it is the period during which the annual Hajj pilgrimage takes place.

It is also the month of Eid-el-Adha, Islam’s most significant festival, observed in honor of Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and willingness to sacrifice.

According to the Haramain platform, the Day of Arafat—regarded as the most important day of Hajj—will be observed on Wednesday, June 5, while Eid-el-Adha will be celebrated the following day, Thursday, June 6, 2025.
