A Nigerian model has raised an alarm after falling victim to a serial scammer who lured her with a fake modelling job and stole her phone.
The incident was shared in a series of posts on her TikTok page, where she detailed how the supposed “client” approached her under the pretense of booking her for a modelling project.
According to the model, a friend had first contacted her about the opportunity, saying someone was looking for a model.
She agreed to meet with the alleged client, who then took her from shop to shop to prepare for the supposed job—getting her makeup done and taking photos.
While her makeup was being applied, the man claimed his phone was dead and asked to use hers to return a call. After handing her phone over, he stepped outside to make the call but never returned.
She said, “He collected my phone to call back the person who called him, he stepped outside to make a call and left with my phone.”
To her shock, she later discovered he had hacked her account and stolen her money.
The model added that this same scammer had earlier tricked her friend in a similar way, using her friend’s stolen phone to contact her with the fake job offer.
The disturbing revelation sparked reactions online, with many warning others—especially models and freelancers—to be cautious and verify opportunities thoroughly before meeting strangers.
