Japanese Bitcoin treasury company Metaplanet Inc. has just disclosed that it purchased a further 150 BTC. That brings the company’s total Bitcoin holdings to 3,350 Bitcoin.
At time of publishing, that means the company holds just over $290 million, or in its local currency that’s 42.216 billion yen. The Bitcoin price has inched past $88,000 after having gained 3.5% in the past day, according to CoinGecko data.
Before this purchase the company ranked as the tenth largest corporate holder of Bitcoin in the world.
The Japanese BTC treasury company, whose moto is “secure the future with Bitcoin,” also recently announced Eric Trump, son of U.S. President Donald Trump, has joined its board of directors.
Eric Trump joins the “newly formed team of Strategic Board of Advisors”, as posted on social media March 21.
The company said about Trump joining them, specifically, because he will bring experience in “real estate, finance, and brand development” that can help drive BTC adoption.
Metaplanet has already share intentions that it has a target to accumulate 10,000 BTC by 2025 and 21,000 BTC by 2026, with “Asia’s largest-ever equity capital raise for Bitcoin” already a work in progress.
The company’s current stock price, on Yahoo Finance, having spiked recently, sits at 5,060 at time of publishing.
The Trump family has its own DeFi platform, WLFI, which has landed the family around $390 million in revenue.
