A young Nigerian woman has expressed frustration over what she described as a decline in generosity and chivalry from men toward women.
In a video making the rounds on social media, the unidentified lady lamented how, unlike in the past, men no longer show acts of kindness or concern for women, especially those who are visibly struggling.
“Things don spoil! Our men don spoil! How are our ladies surviving? Back in the 2go days, when you go to a restaurant to buy food, a man would meet you and pay for everything. Instead, they now wait for you outside,” she exclaimed.
She went on to compare past gestures of kindness with what she described as today’s indifference from men.
“Back then, they will see a woman trekking and they will park to ask, ‘are you going my way?’ This does not happen again,” she added.
Her remarks have sparked a flurry of reactions online, with some agreeing that modern dating and social norms have changed drastically, while others challenged her view, suggesting that expectations of such gestures are outdated or unrealistic.
