Meet Lytebwoy: The Rising Star Ready To Shine
Written by Utfresh

Meet Lytebwoy—real name Eti Israel Evogor—a Nigerian singer and songwriter from Igbo Imabana, Abi Local Government Area, Cross River State. Born on May 6, 2002, Lytebwoy is on a mission to make his mark in the Afrobeats scene with his unique sound and heartfelt storytelling.

We had the opportunity to sit down with him as he shared his journey, influences, and the making of his debut EP, Shine.

Growing Up & Finding Music

For Lytebwoy, music wasn’t always an easy path. “My parents didn’t allow me to make music at first,” he admits. “But the drive in me wouldn’t let me stop.” Despite facing resistance—including being disciplined for his passion—he kept pushing forward.

His breakthrough at home came when people frequently visited their house for music lessons. Seeing the undeniable role music played in their community, his parents eventually accepted his path as a musician.

“My love for music really grew when I started playing instruments in church and live bands,” he shares. Around this time, he was heavily influenced by Burna Boy and Wizkid, two artists who shaped his sound and passion for the craft.

The Moment Everything Changed

Every artist has that defining moment that pushes them to take their craft seriously. For Lytebwoy, it happened when he freestyled to a beat among his friends.

“They were so excited about my delivery,” he recalls. “They kept telling me, ‘You need to start making music seriously. We want to be able to say we have a friend who’s an artist.’”

That encouragement gave him the confidence to take his first real step into the industry.

Officially Stepping into the Studio

Fast forward to early 2024, Lytebwoy officially started recording music.

His first track, “Annabel My Lover,” became a defining moment in his career. The song is now part of his recently released EP, Shine—a project that introduces the world to his unique sound and storytelling.

His music falls under the Afrosounds umbrella, blending Afrobeats, Afropop, and Dancehall influences. “Wizkid and Burna Boy have played a huge role in shaping my sound. I’ve listened to them so much that their influence is naturally present in my music,” he explains.

Creating the Sound: The Making of Shine

Lytebwoy describes his creative process as deeply personal and intentional. “When I play my guitar, I get lost in the melodies. That’s when inspiration hits, and I make sure to write everything down. That’s how my best songs come to life.”

However, his journey wasn’t without struggles. “At first, I had a hard time promoting myself and getting my music on digital platforms,” he says. But with the help of PR expert Joe Octave, whom he connected with through mutual friends Taurus and Jaywheez, he was able to navigate these challenges and push his music further.

It was during this period that Octave suggested he compile his recorded songs into an EP instead of releasing them randomly. That idea led to the birth of Shine, a project that marks Lytebwoy’s official arrival into the industry.

“This EP is my introduction to the world,” he says confidently. “It’s my time to shine, and I want the world to embrace me and my sound.”

“The recording process was an amazing experience. Being surrounded by the right producer and creative minds really helped bring the vision to life,” he says.

Milestones & Recognition

Even as an emerging artist, Lytebwoy has already caught the attention of established names in the industry. His covers have been recognized and reposted by Iyanya, Khaid, and Wizboy—a sign that his music is making waves.

What’s next? The Future Looks Bright

Looking ahead, Lytebwoy has big dreams. “I want to be one of the most listened-to and sought-after artists, with my music reaching people across the world.”

Right now, he’s working on a major collaboration with Killerbwoy Jaywheez, a project he describes as “jaw-dropping.”

“In the next five years, I see myself as a fully established artist—making great music, touring the world, and leaving a lasting impact.”

Beyond Music: The Man Behind the Sound

When he’s not recording, Lytebwoy spends his time listening to his favorite artists, constantly drawing inspiration for his own music.

Before we wrap up, he has a special message for his fans:

“I want to thank everyone who has been listening to me. Stay locked in because there are so many exciting moments ahead.
