Man who ordered centre rug online rants as it’s delivered in nylon via dispatch rider

A Nigerian man has taken to social media to rant after receiving a disappointing online order. The man, who previously bought a centre rug for over ₦100,000 in Yaba and had it delivered to him in a truck, was left stunned when a similar rug—ordered online—was delivered by a dispatch rider in a nylon bag.

This is contained in a post he shared on his page via the popular social media platform, X, formerly known as Twitter.

Narrating the incident, the man revealed that he had initially purchased a 10×8 centre rug from Yaba, paying over ₦100,000 for it, and the rug was delivered to his home in a truck due to its size and quality.

Hoping to replicate the experience for another room, he decided to order a similar-looking rug online through Temu for about half the price.

According to him, he carefully checked the dimensions, which matched the Yaba version, and was convinced by the photos and descriptions.

To his surprise, when the order arrived, it was handed to him by a dispatch rider in a nylon bag.

Sharing the full story, he wrote:

“I buy centre rug for Yaba. Like the 10×8, over 100k of course.”

“Then I want to buy a second one for another room. I see similar rug on Temu for about half the price. I check dimensions, same thing. The thing even get fur sef… so it must be the same.”

“Then I order it! Walk with me oh. When I bought from Yaba, na truck I put am inside. When my Temu order arrive, na dispatch rider bring am for nylon! Is this a joke?? I enter house, open the nylon, true true na wetin I see online oh. I spread it out, true true na 10×8 oh.”

“The difference is something you can’t check online for. While the one I got from Yaba is an actual rug, the one from online Okija is at best a very large scarf with hair on it.”

“Even after being extra careful to check everything, the only crime we are guilty of is trying to buy something good for much less. But then, isn’t that why anyone ever goes there?”

Following his post, concerned individuals took to the comment section to share their reactions.

See some reactions below:

@ichieEmy: “All these complaints about Temu from Nigerians are actually funny. Why complain when you can actually get a refund?”

@BasedMightysam: “same here my rug was the same picture and dimension with the description, but it was very thin, in fact, the edges started folding a few days after bcoz it’s too thin those saying 10x8cm is diff from 10x8m don’t even know anything about math, that’s length x breath, not thickness.”

@aniakomichael: “All the things I have ordered on temp has been very good . I don’t know how you guys end up having this issues.”

@Drchidox: “E be like say Nigerian Temu version dey different from the deliveries abroad. Ive actually gotten some nice stuffs from the same Temu.”

@Adebayorabidem3: “Order on temu at your own risk. Anywhere I see their ads, im reporting them, if you leave a good review, ill report your acct. My experience is similar to yours.”

@zeallonaire: “I even used ruler to be sure of the size of reflector I am buying. Just picked it few hours ago and I was still disappointed! Never again.”
