Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has hinted that Antony could return to Old Trafford this summer despite Real Betis’ interest in making his loan move permanent.
Antony has impressed since joining Betis on loan in January, scoring three goals and providing two assists as the Spanish side pushes for European qualification.
His performances have prompted Betis’ sporting director Manu Fajardo to confirm the club’s desire to retain the Brazilian, although financial hurdles remain.
“It’s still early, but we will try in different ways to do everything possible to continue enjoying Antony,” Fajardo said, acknowledging that Betis cannot afford United’s €45 million valuation, as reported by the Daily Telegraph.
A second loan deal could be explored, but no agreement is close.
Amorim, tasked with trimming United’s wage bill this summer, indicated that all loaned players, including Antony and Marcus Rashford, will return to the club for review.
“All those players who are on loan will return and the club will decide what to do at the end of the season,” Amorim told Diario AS.
“Rashford’s talent, Antony’s talent, they have it. We’re very happy with them because when you loan players out, the goal is for them to improve and perform at a high level. That suits us well.”
United’s plans for Antony will depend on squad evaluations after the season concludes, potentially complicating Betis’ hopes of securing a long-term deal for the winger.
