A Nigerian editor has shared a bizarre experience after receiving an internship for a position he never applied for—all because a lady copied his CV without changing his details.
The editor, identified as @DaraIta5 on X, explained that he had originally shared his CV in his school’s group chat as a guide for others.
However, a colleague unknowingly submitted the same CV to an employer without altering the details, leading to an unexpected internship invitation for him.
Recounting the incident, he wrote:
“I sent my CV to a group chat in school so people could use it to learn how to make theirs. Months later, I got a call from a firm telling me I’ve been selected for an internship. I never applied to any firm. Someone applied for an internship with my CV, changing not even my name.”
In a follow-up post, he shared a screenshot of his chat with the lady responsible and clarified that he eventually directed her to reach out to the firm, which led to her securing the internship.
“I think we’re missing the point. The point is not that my CV was good enough. That’s beside the point. I found the actual recipient and told her to reach out to them (she got in). The point is that people have to be more careful with stuff like this. Some mistakes are expensive.”
