A 29-year-old man, Mizanmil Abubakar, has been arrested by the Niger State Police Command, over the alleged murder of his 65-year-old father, Abubakar Adawa in Minna.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, said the suspect buried the decapitated remains of his father in a shallow grave.
Abiodun said the murder was discovered after the deceased was reported missing from his house in the Barkin-Sale area of Minna at the Kpakungu police division.
Police operatives attached to the division led by the Divisional Police Officer visited the house and the suspect, and his mother, Aisha Abubakar, were invited for interrogation.
“The whole compound was thoroughly searched, and surprisingly, the severed body of the missing person was discovered buried in a shallow grave within the compound,” the PPRO said.
Abiodun said the suspect had confessed to being responsible for the gruesome m8rder of his father, saying that the deceased hated him.

He said a preliminary investigation was ongoing at the division and the suspect would soon be transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and prosecution.
