Family Accuses KFC Lagos Branch of Withholding Deceased Daughter’s Body Following Tragic Incident at Work
The family of a young woman has come forward to make serious allegations against a KFC branch in Lagos, claiming that they have been denied access to their daughter’s body after she collapsed and passed away while on duty.
According to one of the family members, they received only limited information from KFC, stating that their daughter had fainted and subsequently died while attempting to dry her wet clothes. However, KFC has allegedly refused to disclose the whereabouts of their daughter’s body to the family.
A family insider revealed, “She had recently started working at KFC, just about two months ago. Last Friday, at around 11 PM, she reportedly collapsed.”
The family claims that KFC stated their daughter had screamed and fallen while trying to hang her laundered clothes. KFC asserted that they promptly rushed her to the hospital, but the first medical facility declined admission due to a lack of deposit. Eventually, she was taken to a second hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
According to the family, KFC took the deceased’s body to the morgue without informing them. As of now, the family remains unaware of the exact location where her body has been placed. Surprisingly, even the police have been uncooperative in providing the family with information regarding the whereabouts of their loved one’s remains.
The family suspects a possible cover-up, as they find it difficult to believe that she simply fell without any underlying cause.
The family insider further stated, “KFC claimed she screamed and fell, yet they failed to notify her family, who reside nearby. They rushed her to the hospital without informing her relatives. Even after her demise, they took her body to the mortuary without notifying her family. They quickly went to the Festac police station to file a report, still withholding information from the family.”
The police later contacted the family on Saturday afternoon, instructing the mother to visit the station regarding her daughter’s work-related issues. However, upon arrival, the mother was reluctantly informed of her daughter’s death.
The family asserts that their daughter was in good health and did not have any pre-existing illnesses. They suspect the possibility of electrocution, based on an officer’s statement to the deceased’s older brother. The officer allegedly said, “Oh, it was you who electrocuted your sister in Festac.”
The deceased was the only daughter in her family and had joined KFC after discontinuing her studies in nursing school.
