Lagos State Ferry Services (LAGFERRY) has stressed the need to harness the state’s waterways potential through tourism to boost economic growth and development.

To showcase the potential of Lagos’ waterways for hospitality, leisure, and economic growth, Lagferry organised a boat cruise tagged Lori Omi,’.

Managing Director of LAGFERRY, Abdoulbaq Ladi Balogun, who stated this during a boat cruise tagged, Fuji Lori Omi, said the boat cruise is a historic event, highlighting the significance of showcasing renowned artists in the music industry to promote Lagos as a hub for water tourism.

He underscored the importance of leveraging the vast water resources in Lagos State for economic development, with a particular focus on water transportation and the Blue Economy.

Balogun, who emphasised the support and encouragement received from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to explore the untapped potential of Lagos’ water bodies, noted that a significant portion of Lagos State is covered by water, prompting the need to maximise its the benefits.

He reiterated the importance of integrating creativity, tourism, and Blue Economy in leveraging the water resources of Lagos for sustainable development, saying that by bringing together artists, industry stakeholders, and government support, the event aimed to raise awareness about the potential of water tourism and the economy in Lagos.

A Fuji artist, Wasiu Alabi ‘,’ who expressed his appreciation for the event, stressed the need for Lagosians to take pride in the state and continue to keep it clean and excellent.

Ambassador Sulaiman, popularly known as Atawewe, applauded the Lagos State government for its innovative approach to showcasing the state’s cultural heritage.

According to General Manager of LASWA, Damilola Emmanuel, “Fuji Fusion is a showcase of Lagos in style on the waterways, representing tourism at its best.”
