The corpse of a lady identified as Goodness Edem Israel has been found in a gutter along Udok Street, off Barracks Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The corpse was discovered in the early hours of Thursday by passersby and residents of the area.
The cause of her death has not been ascertained as at the time of filing this report. Apart from the foam in her nose there was no mark to indicate wether she was gunned down or matcheted by her killers.
Some residents of the area, who pleaded anonymity, said the lady must have been killed somewhere and thrown inside the gutter by her assailants as no form of gunshot and violence was recorded in the vicinity.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John has confirmed the incident.
She said the deceased’s name was revealed through her NIN which was found with her corpse, adding that the Command has begun investigations into the matter.
“The name on the NIN found carries ‘Goodness Edem Israel’. Investigation is in progress, I will communicate further developments,” the police spokesperson said.
