A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to share her ordeal after receiving a two-month quit notice from her landlord—just shortly after spending ₦4 million to renovate a dilapidated apartment.
In a post shared via X (formerly Twitter), she revealed that she initially lived in a shared three-bedroom apartment where she also ran her business but needed more space to expand.
While searching for a new location, the caretaker of her compound offered her a vacant apartment within the same building.
Trusting the offer and assuming the apartment would be in good condition like her previous one, she paid for the new place without seeing it first.
According to her, the first warning sign should have been the delay in receiving the keys, which took a month.
When she finally gained access, she was shocked to find the apartment in a severely damaged state.
Despite the condition, she decided to invest heavily—spending ₦4 million to fully renovate and furnish the place to her taste.
However, just two months after settling in, she was issued a quit notice by the landlord.
Sharing her story to caution others, she said:
“I’m sharing my story to warn others about the dangers of oral agreements. I don’t even know where to start. I made payment without seeing the property, thinking it would be in the same condition as the one I was living in. The flat was completely damaged—everything was in a total mess.”
She also posted a video showing the upgraded interior of the apartment, highlighting the extent of work and money she put into the renovations.
