Controversial American rapper Kanye West has publicly called on U.S. President Donald Trump to pardon music mogul Sean Combs, popularly known as Puff Diddy or Diddy, who is currently in jail facing serious legal battles.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) page on Thursday, Kanye made a direct appeal to Trump, urging him to intervene in Diddy’s case.
“@realDonaldTrump, please free my brother Puff,” Ye wrote.
In a series of follow-up posts, the Donda rapper criticized celebrities for staying silent on Diddy’s predicament.
“All these celebrity niggas and bitches is pussy y’all a watch our brother rot and never say shit,” he posted.
Kanye further suggested that Diddy was being used as an example to instil fear in the Black community.
“Just for clarity, they trying to make an example out of Puff. Me and my brother had our issues but these white people trying to use Puff to scare niggas. I’m neither scared nor brave. This just me.”
Diddy’s legal troubles
Diddy is currently facing over 30 civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault and misconduct. He was arrested by Homeland Security in September last year on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and interstate transportation for prostitution. The hip-hop mogul has denied all allegations and entered a not-guilty plea in court.
Despite his plea, his bail request has been denied twice, keeping him in a New York jail while awaiting trial.
Health concerns and trial date
Reports recently emerged that Diddy was rushed to a hospital in Brooklyn due to a knee injury before being returned to his cell after receiving treatment.
His federal criminal trial is set to commence later this year. Meanwhile, Kanye West’s appeal has sparked fresh debates, with some supporting his call for justice while others remain sceptical given the gravity of the allegations against Diddy.
