The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 13 suspects in connection with the killing of a naval officer, Lt. Commodore M. Buba, in the Kawo area of Kaduna.
The officer, who was a senior course student at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, was reportedly attacked and stabbed by a suspected phone snatcher at about 5:20 am on Sunday, near the Kawo flyover.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the arrest followed a raid in the area shortly after the tragic incident.
The suspects were found in possession of dangerous weapons.
The development was also contained in a post shared on Monday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, who noted that the officer met his untimely death while attempting to change a flat tyre on his vehicle.
The attacker, according to reports, approached the officer and demanded his mobile phone.
When the officer resisted and questioned the demand, he was stabbed in the chest with a local knife.
The suspect attempted to flee the scene but was reportedly overpowered and lynched by bystanders.
Lt. Commodore Buba was rushed to Manaal Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
His body has since been moved to the 44 Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna.
