Reno Omokri, a prominent socio-political activist, has shared his perspective on the controversy surrounding Ejikeme Mmesoma's Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) result.
Omokri expressed his belief that the ongoing debate surrounding Mmesoma's JAMB result highlights the division within Nigeria as the 2023 general elections draw near.
He emphasized that fueling ethnic and religious sentiments regarding Mmesoma's situation would not be beneficial.
In a tweet, Omokri stated that the matter at hand is a technical issue, and therefore, it is crucial not to encourage innuendos that would further divide Nigeria.
He expressed his view by saying, “The JAMB has given its verdict. If anyone has concrete evidence that they are lying or targeting any group of Nigerians, then come out with concrete proof, not innuendo. Whipping up ethnic and religious sentiments over a purely technical matter will not help anyone.”
Omokri pointed out that Nigeria is already deeply divided due to the upcoming 2023 elections. Therefore, it is unnecessary to propagate innuendos that would exacerbate the division. He suggested that instead of speculating or making the issue about ethnicity and bias against certain regions of Nigeria, it would be more prudent to wait until the investigative panel set up by the Anambra State Government establishes the facts.
Furthermore, Omokri proposed that the Anambra State government and relevant non-governmental organizations should have initially verified the information directly from JAMB by sending an official letter, rather than relying solely on social media reports.
