JAMB Remains Resolute in Allegations as Mmesoma's Result Manipulation Case is Handed Over to Security Authorities
Despite widespread public uproar, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) stands firm in its position, asserting that Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma from Anambra manipulated her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
Controversy surrounds Mmesoma's UTME result, as JAMB claims that her reported score of 362 in the recent test was forged.
On Sunday, JAMB alleged that Mmesoma utilized undisclosed software to tamper with her 2023 UTME result, sparking a wave of controversy and intense discussions on social media.
In response, the schoolgirl vehemently denied the accusation in a viral video on Monday, stating that she had printed the result directly from the JAMB portal and could not have manipulated it.
However, JAMB's spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, released a statement on Tuesday indicating that the matter had been handed over to security agencies for investigation. Benjamin reiterated that Mmesoma was not the first person to manipulate examination results conducted by the board.
Contrary to speculation on social media, Benjamin emphasized that the JAMB system was neither tampered with nor compromised. He alleged that Mmesoma had “simply falsified a copy of a result slip of a candidate named ‘Asimiyu Mariam Omobolanle,' who sat the UTME in 2021 and scored 138.”
Benjamin further stated that JAMB was prepared to engage with Mmesoma's parents and legal team in the appropriate legal forum.
In conclusion, he added, “This case has, therefore, been rightly handed over to relevant security agencies for thorough investigation to unravel the masterminds of yet another unfortunate scam. The Board is not averse to public scrutiny and is ready for open public sessions, involving the agencies listed above, as well as relevant security agencies where the candidate, parents, guardian, and her legal team will be present.”
