Nnamdi Kanu‘s Ongoing Detention a Source of Humiliation for Over 70 Million Igbos, Says IPOB Lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor
Expressing his concern on Friday, Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), lamented the prolonged detention of the Biafra agitator.
Ejimakor emphasized that Kanu’s continued imprisonment was not only a personal matter but also a humiliation inflicted upon more than 70 million Igbos. Taking to Twitter, he asserted that separating Kanu from the collective identity of the Igbo people was an impossible task.
Highlighting the delicate nature of Kanu’s detention, Ejimakor pointed out that the circumstances surrounding it were complex and challenging. He further criticized the act of detaining Kanu, stating that it amounted to the virtual detainment and humiliation of millions of Igbos. Ejimakor deemed such actions impolitic and fraught with risks.
Despite court orders granting Kanu bail, the IPOB leader remains in custody under the Department of State Services (DSS). This ongoing situation has sparked legal and public debates regarding the adherence to due process and the rights of individuals involved in politically charged cases.
