Al-Hilal manager Simone Inzaghi has personally contacted Victor Osimhen in a last-ditch effort to convince the Napoli striker to accept a record-breaking move to the Saudi Pro League, according to Il Mattino via Napoli Calcio News.
The Saudi club have significantly raised it offer, proposing an eye-watering €40 million annual salary.
The deal would see Osimhen become the highest-paid Nigerian footballer of all time, surpassing Odion Ighalo’s €12.1 million-per-year contract with Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua in 2019.
Sources suggest Inzaghi’s direct intervention aims to lay out the club’s vision and sporting project to sway the 26-year-old, who remains undecided about his future.
With Galatasaray and Napoli reportedly apart on Osimhen’s valuation, Al-Hilal sees an opportunity to gain ground, especially with Napoli firm on activating the €75 million release clause.
Osimhen, currently vacationing in Nigeria, has not committed to a destination for the 2025/26 season.
However, Napoli’s growing interest in Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez further hints that a departure could be imminent.
