The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will initiate a comprehensive review of the 2023 general election starting in July. This information was conveyed through a statement signed by Mr. Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee. The statement was released following INEC's regular meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.
Okoye clarified that this decision aligns with the Commission's established practice observed over the years. The review process will encompass all aspects of the electoral activities conducted before, during, and after the elections. It will involve the participation of INEC officials at both the national and state levels, along with relevant stakeholders. The primary objective is to gather insights, learn valuable lessons, and devise strategies for the future.
“The review will commence with a meeting of the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) on July 4 and conclude with the Commission's retreat on August 5,” Okoye stated.
