Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele , said there is no going on the fight for good governance in Nigeria.

The protest will be happening in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, while the nation marks its 64th Independence Day anniversary.

Security agencies had issued stern warnings to intending protesters, saying the breakdown of law and order would not be condoned.

But Sowore, in a statement, vowed that he “will be on the streets of Nigeria to join with other Nigerians in protesting the hardships, privations, hunger, unemployment, insecurity, and poverty that the Tinubu has unleashed on the Nigerian people.”

According to the popular activist, protests or revolts are the only tool that people have to voice their opposition to the anti-people policies of their government, stressing that such right is enshrined in “everyone, and I have every intention to exercise that right on October 1st and beyond”.

His statement read: “I spent five of the last 6 years either in prison, detention, or confinement by the @OfficialAPCNg government, under trumped-up treason charges that they were forced to withdraw.

“For those who wonder why I refuse to back down or cower in fear, given the threats to my freedom and my life—here is my reply: I committed myself to the cause of fighting for the emergence of a better Nigeria three decades ago. I remain committed to that ideal

“As long as I have breath in my lungs, and as long as my fists can be raised, I will continue to fight for the right of the Nigerian people to a decent life. I will continue to advocate for their rights to good governance and I will continue to demand justice for all.

“We will not relent until our point-by-point demands are met. Until the @officialABAT government meets these legitimate demands of the Nigerian people, we will not relent in our struggle until we win.

“I invite you to join us on October 1st. We cannot be silent or indifferent in the face of the sufferings and privations that the Nigerian people are going through.”
