Nollywood actor and traditionalist Yul Edochie is pondering why people fear ageing.
Taking to his Instagram page, he stated that sometimes he wonders why people are ashamed of getting older. He described ageing as a blessing. According to him, it is beautiful when one ages as one understands life better.
The actor, who turned 43 in January, gushed over his age as he revealed that he is enjoying his new age. He stated that he doesn’t want to be a day younger for any reason.
In a message to the public, he told those fearing ageing because they haven’t achieved much to relax. He noted that there is no hurry in life, and nobody has it all. He told them to be content with what they have.
“Sometimes I wonder why people are ashamed of getting older.
Getting older is a blessing, and it’s beautiful cos you understand life better as you get older.
This my 43 dey sweet me die.
I don’t want to be a day younger for any reason.
If you feel you haven’t achieved much at your age, relax. There’s no hurry in life, and nobody has it all.
Be content with what you have at any stage in your life”.
Over the years, many celebrities have been roped in age controversies.
Last year, Uche Ogbodo had a face-off with a troll, who didn’t believe she was 38 and had expressed hope that she was honest with her husband about her real age. Replying her, Uche expressed how disgusted she was over her statement, as she made the troll know that while she was sleeping, she was already a star.
Similarly, while celebrating her 35th birthday, Nkechi Blessing had lashed out at those accusing her of reducing her age. She told them to keep choking on her age as she shamed them for being stagnant.
Actress, Caroline Danjuma was mercilessly dragged online last year after she claimed she was turning 35. She slammed her trolls, calling them unintelligent, as she also shared photos of her mother who she stated was in her 50s, and had addressed those asking for her certificates.
Big Brother Naija winner, Mercy Eke came under fire after her real age was exposed after she posted her Voters Card to inform her fans that she was ready for the 2023 Nigerian general elections. An unbothered Mercy Eke sarcastically addressed it, and in an exchange with a troll, she revealed her real age.
Her sister, Sweery Eke, had taken to her defense, as she shared a screenshot of Mercy’s birth certificate, stating that the only thing they have against her sister is because of the level of access she has at 30 as she went on to list Mercy Eke’s accomplishments.
