Alf-Inge Haaland has quashed speculation linking his son, Erling Haaland, with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid or Barcelona.
He is insisting the Manchester City striker remains “very happy” at the club.
Despite penning a landmark 10-year contract earlier this year, rumours have persisted that Haaland could be tempted by a move to La Liga.
Recall Barcelona president Joan Laporta recently claimed that “nothing is impossible” when asked about potentially signing the Norwegian forward.
The 23-year-old has expressed frustration with City’s lacklustre 2024/25 season, describing it as “boring and not fun” after the club failed to win any major silverware.
Haaland also finished behind Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak in the Premier League scoring charts, a rare underperformance by his high standards.
However, with Manchester City currently competing in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, Haaland’s father has poured cold water on any transfer speculation.
Speaking to Marca, he said:
“He is happy. Now he’s focused and focused on the Club World Cup and… yes, he’s happy.”
On City’s chances of winning the tournament, he added:
“I think they are the favourites to win this tournament. We’re seeing some good games.
“Yes, I think they’re among the favourites. My son is very happy at Manchester City. Very happy.”
Manchester City face Al Ain in their second group-stage match on Monday in Atlanta as they aim to cap a disappointing season with international silverware.
